Wholesale Underlayment & Vapor Barriers for Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay
Underlayment is a critical layer installed beneath your flooring that enhances durability, comfort, and performance. It provides a smooth, stable base for your floor while protecting it from moisture, sound transfer, and everyday wear.
Do you offer professional underlayment installation?

Why is underlayment required for LVP and laminate floors?
Underlayment acts as a cushion, sound dampener, and vapor barrier. It smooths out minor subfloor imperfections and blocks moisture from affecting your planks. Without the correct underlayment, your floor may feel hollow or become susceptible to mold and buckling.
Do I need underlayment if my flooring already has an attached pad?
In many cases, no. Many of the premium LVP and laminate products we carry include an integrated pad. However, for installations over a concrete slab, we often recommend adding a 6-mil vapor barrier to prevent coastal humidity and ground moisture from rising through the floor.
Which underlayment is best for sound reduction?
Look for products with high IIC (Impact Insulation Class) and STC (Sound Transmission Class) ratings. For multi-story homes or apartments in Santa Cruz County, we carry specialized acoustic underlayments that meaningfully reduce footstep and furniture noise between floors.
How much should I budget for wholesale underlayment?
Our Warehouse Direct pricing runs 20 to 30 percent below big-box retail. Depending on thickness and features like cork or acoustic foam, expect to pay between $0.40 and $0.95 per square foot.
