On thick, plush carpet the grip may be less secure since the surface has more give, but for low-pile and loop-pile carpet it performs well.
Measure your rug and cut the pad 1 to 2 inches smaller on each side so it stays hidden under the rug edges. The 12-foot width handles most standard room-size rugs in a single cut, and scissors or a utility knife both work cleanly on the 3mm material. Leftover roll sections can be stored and cut for additional rugs later.
